As requested in another thread, let's see the state of what the ALDJ users are using these days when it comes to DJing. If you use multiple different options, pick the one you use or like the most.

Literally the only person on here still using Ableton. GOOD.

I use both Traktor and Ableton depending what I'm doing. If I just want to get a few tracks together and mix with no prep (beatmatching manually), i'll go with Traktor and my S2. However if I've got an idea of a mix in my head and only have a few minutes every now and again to work on it then I'll use ableton and work in arrange.

Also depends on the music style, if i'm mixing nu-disco i'll use ableton as nu-disco tracks pretty much have no intros so i'll have to do some tweaking beforehand. For vocal house i'll use traktor.

Technics and CDJ's running Serato through a Rane 62, Ableton, Bridge, Max4Live, APC40, Launchpad, Touchable, Ikea Expedit, Vika Ramon tabletop, Three Way KRK monitors....

It doesn't leave the house these days, my mobile setup is the Technics and Rane with the Ipad running Touchable....

Still love it today as i did 25 years ago!

Cheers
D

I use traktor to dj, and am using ableton to produce. I'm actually using ableton more this way, than when I was djing with it.

After flipping back and forth between Live and Traktor the last couple years, I recently went all in on Traktor and bought and S4 (again). Really happy with the set up now, easy to travel with and still fun in the studio. Traktor 2.5 fixed most of my issues with the software, so far it's been easy sailing.

It really was nothing against live, I've just been using it for something like over a decade now. Sometimes I feel like half my life has been staring at the spreadsheet stylings of Session View, and I just needed a change.

You couldn't resist, T! :P I switched to Traktor about 4 years ago and haven't looked back since for a number of reasons being the main 2 sound quality and ability to select and load the tracks from the controller and not having to drag and drop anything in a live situation when things can go very wrong because of that or prepare a bunch of tunes in the session view in advance only to discover too late that they don't work at the dancefloor. Nothing personal, mr. Live :)

My guess wasn't too bad for now, Traktor rules at the moment :P

No I hear you, I feel the same way about browsing and the like, it definitely is easier in Traktor. I don't buy into the sound quality still to this day, but that's another story...

I do. My ableton mixes always used to sound thin and the volume was always low, especially compared to traktor. I never had vintage warmer though.

Yeah, we already know what each other think about that matter but we have to say it every time so others also know :P

That's more or less what I notice, glad I'm not the only one, sometimes think I'm paranoid or something :) Vintage Warmer only makes things worse, if the sound engine is not spot on, there's little you can do.

I don't think Traktor sounds better either tbh.

But at least we've found a new religion to replace Mixed In Key arguments :D

I've used Traktor and the s4 forever. I even rigged up my launchpad to work with Traktor... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MsqQT6H0lF8&sns=em

However I started doing pure mashups sets for hilarity and can't get away from Ableton.
